CHECKERBOARD FLOOR
The shower stall of a California guest toilet is clad in Carrara marble tiles out of Stones Unlimited and the Soho marble tiles are from Exquisite Surfaces.
CEMENT STYLE
Cement flooring tiles select up the gray and “add just the right amount of pattern,” says designer Daleet Spector of an understated bath. “And they’re cool and fresh on bare toes. The room is lavish but at a really contemporary, understated way.”
INLAID BATHMATS
The master bath in designer Betty Lou Phillips’s French-style Dallas house has been motivated by baths in five-star hotel suites. The Monsieur and Madame “mats” are inlaid mosaics.
HEXAGONAL PATTERN
“I wanted play!” Says designer SuzAnn Kletzien of the daring en suite bathroom. The effect begins with a dynamic hexagonal-tile “carpet” by Artistic Tile. In Nero Marquina White and Thassos marbles, it is a luxe edition of conventional penny-tile.
MOROCCAN MOTIF
A powder room in a worldly Los Angeles house includes Ann Sacks’s Maghreb 4 tiles on the wall.
